
Groups Reclaiming Safety: A Trauma Support Group for Adult Survivors of Childhood Trauma
A safe and supportive space to begin healing in connection.
This trauma-informed group offers a confidential and structured environment for adults who have experienced trauma in childhood. Whether you’re newly exploring the impact of your past or continuing your healing journey, this group provides an opportunity to connect with others who understand.
Each session combines gentle psychoeducation, grounding/ reflective exercises, and optional sharing to help you:
- Understand the long-term impact of trauma
- Learn emotion regulation and self-soothing strategies
- Develop healthier coping mechanisms
- Experience the power of connection and shared resilience
Who is it for?
- Adults (18+) of any gender
- Individuals with a history of childhood trauma, as defined by your own experience
- Those not currently in acute crisis (please note: individuals experiencing active psychosis, suicidality, or substance dependence will not be able to join at this time. Not joining this group is a precaution to avoid exacerbating any distress, at a time when your wellbeing may be the priority. However, you are welcome to participate in the group in the future when things stabilise for you. So please don’t hesitate to reapply. Group Format
- Held twice a month via Zoom
- 90-minute drop-in sessions (following a brief screening call)
- Maximum 6 participants to maintain a safe and intimate atmosphere
Session Structure
- Group agreements and welcome – 3 minutes
- Relaxation or reflective exercise – 5–7 minutes
- Psychoeducation topic – 20 minutes
- Optional sharing round – 50 minutes
- Reflection and closing practice – 10 minutes
